The Story Behind This Image
The Aisle Seat
Every evening she takes the same crowded bus home, and every evening she saves the aisle seat. Bag on the seat. Eyes down the road. The conductor has stopped asking — he just nods at the empty seat like it's a passenger with a season pass.
He might get on at the next stop. He probably won't. But the seat stays saved, because some habits are really prayers wearing a disguise.
Rooftop Weather
After the bus drops her at the lane, she climbs to the rooftop. The monsoon is at full volume, drumming the tin roofs of the old city, and she sits on the ledge with her legs dangling over the glowing lane below — beige sweater soaked through, wet hair stuck to her cheeks, the blue hour doing its bruised, beautiful thing around her.
The golden backlight catches the rain as it falls past the peeling walls. Somewhere below, a bus sighs to a stop. She doesn't look down. She already knows it isn't him. But the aisle seat will be saved again tomorrow, because hope that stays doesn't need evidence — it just needs a seat.
